A shopping trip to Paddington included a lunch at Micky’s Cafe to take advantage of their $10 burger Wednesdays!
The highlight of the meal by far was the milkshakes, which we ordered first. I had never had a salted caramel milkshake before, but after tasting this, I could never go back to plain old vanilla! The sauce used was sweet with just the right amount of saltiness, and while I expected it to be very rich, it was surprisingly not too bad, with a good balance of flavour. WHen it came to the food, the range of burger options available was quite extensive, but I settled on the Chicken Schnitzel burger, which came with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and a side of chips. It was tasty, and the meat was a good sized portion. However, it wasn’t particularly memorable in terms of flavor or originality, so for next time, I would add some extra ingredients in the burger. such as pineapple or avocado, for a more interesting meal as this was an option on the menu (for an additional cost).
The cafe is very conveniently located in the middle of the vintage boutiques on Oxford Street, perfectly placed for lunch after a busy day of shopping! The wait staff were friendly and helpful, and the food came out relatively quickly. We were seated in a small courtyard at the back of the cafe at a picnic style wooden table, which was a lovely setting! However, on a colder day, it wouldn’t have been as great an experience, so more seating inside would’ve been good. Nevertheless, since it was nice and sunny, it was great to enjoy our food outside!
The $10 burger and chips deal is excellent value, and definitely a good option, particularly if you opted for the additional fillings for the burger in order to improve the flavor of the burger and for a more unique experience. The ‘must-try’ option is definitely the milkshake though! At $7, it’s on the expensive side, but the salted caramel taste was so wonderful, I could’ve even ordered a second, so give that a try!
