A pre-NRL game (Roosters v Knights!) feed in the Entertainment Quarter led us to the Bavarian Bier Cafe for a quick dinner!
All of the menu options seemed like they would make tasty, hearty meals, and I was glad I had a large group with me to finish off what I couldn’t eat! I settled on the Über-Schnitzel, which is a pan fried, crumbed chicken schnitzel with baby rocket, parmesan and semi-dried tomato, and a side of chips. The schnitzel was cooked to perfection, and the crumb was light and perfect, and not too thick! It was a very big serve though, and I could only get through half of it, so keep that in mind when ordering off the menu.
Unfortunately, we hadn’t thought to make a booking beforehand, and since it was a game night, it was super busy! They did offer us a table in the bar section, which was great, but thankfully, a table became free in the main restaurant, and they accommodated our group of seven with ease, which was very incredible! Service was quite slow, again because of how busy the day was, but the meals were well worth the wait.
A great restaurant in a good location, and particularly handy just before something at Allianz Stadium or the SCG. All up, the schnitzel was great value at $26, given the large portion size. Definitely worth a try, but go early if you’re needing to be somewhere fast!
