For a catchup with an old friend, we decided to brunch at the newly renovated Lilly’s Espresso & Cucina at Rhodes!
I opted for the Big Breakfast, which normally comes with sourdough, eggs, bacon, roast tomato, chorizo and mushroom. However, I personally don’t like bacon and tomato, so the staff were super accommodating and substituted avocado for me instead of those two options. I got my eggs poached, and they were perfectly cooked, soft and runny on the inside and lovely drizzled over the bread. The chorizo was also delicious, and the fresh avocado cut through the heavier components of the meal.
My friend opted for the eggs on toast, which she ordered poached as well, and with an add-on of avocado. She enjoyed her meal lots, and the sourdough bread was a highlight! We both also ordered the detox juice, which despite not having any obvious detox benefits, was so delicious. While it was quite vegetable based, which is normally a no-go for me, this particular version has kale, mint, celery, cucumber and pineapple, and is really refreshing and a good compliment to our breakfast – a great start to the day!
There is ample seating inside, but on a Friday morning it was quite full, so we sat outside in the rare sunshine instead. Ordering is done at the counter, and then a table number is given, as there is no table service. The meals were a bit slow coming out, but when they arrived, were beautifully presented.
It was a lovely morning catching up with my friend, and Lilly’s made it more so! I’ll definitely be back to try their nightly Italian menu, and they have some great dishes on offer!
