Pasticceria Papa

To celebrate my birthday with some sugary delights, we popped in to Pasticceria Papa’s, which has recently opened a new location much closer to home in Five Dock!

Food:
The famous ricotta cheesecake is always a must have, and we grabbed two slices! It was creamy and sweet, and the base was well cooked. The sprinkle of icing sugar and cocoa on top finished it off nicely, and each mouthful was addictive and more-ish. We also bought an assortment of shortbread biscuits. The flower shaped shortbread with jam in the centre was a highlight, as were the long fingers dipped in chocolate, with their melt-in-your-mouth softness perfectly contrasted with the rich chocolate.

Finally, I couldn’t resist getting a croissant for breakfast, and it did not disappoint! Flaky and soft, but more well cooked than the French variety, they were lightly dusted in icing sugar and delicious with a bit of jam and heated up.

Ambience:
Opening hours on Sunday are only until 1, but there was still a long queue to order and pick up cakes. The cafe has two levels – one for seating and one to order, with an expansive selection of sweet treats and lots of staff to help. Despite the crowd, we were served relatively quickly, and they were patient as we decided how to narrow down our list of items!

Overall:
For some authentic Italian pastries and cakes and a sneaky sweet treat, head to Pasticceria Papa’s! I always go back for the cheesecake, and this time was no exception!
