In search of some hearty meals and a Bavarian feast, we headed to the rocks to try Lowenbrau Keller!
We ordered two meals, expecting large portion sizes, and we weren’t disappointed. Our first pick was the Lowenbrau’s Brauteller, which was a selection of German sausages. The veal sausage and Thuringer were our favourites, as they were light and flavourful, and were complemented by the accompanying sauce and creamy mash. The others, including the Cheese Kransky, Numberger Sausage and Sauerkraut were unexceptional, but still good.
Our second pick was the Hanchenschnitzel, which was a chicken schnitzel served with french fries, salad and parsley lemon gremolata. We really enjoyed it, and it got better with each bite! The chicken was well cooked and tasty dipped into the sauce, and the french fries were light and fluffy and so addictive!
We were seated very quickly, and the staff were so friendly and patient as we tried to narrow down our choices. It didn’t take too long for food to come out, and we sat in a nice open outdoor area that was covered and heated, but had a view of the cobbled streets, which was lovely! The location is amazing and a short walk from Circular Quay station in one of the most historic streets in The Rocks, so it was a lovely walk down.
Lowenbrau boasts generous portions and hearty German food, but the friendly atmosphere is the real treat. I’ll definitely come back at night for some of the mango beer!
