Having heard amazing things about the famous Huxtaburger, we trawled the lanes of Melbourne to try it for ourselves and see what all of the hype was about!
My pick was the classic Huxtaburger, with a beef patty, mustard, mayo, tomato sauce, tomato, cheese, lettuce and pickles. It was very tasty with just the right amount of greasiness, and the bun was nice and soft. The rest of the table opted for the same thing, but one of our friends picked the Denise, which was the Huxtaburger with additional jalapeno and sriracha mayo, as he enjoyed the extra bit of spiciness!
We also grabbed a couple of milkshakes, and I chose the salted caramel, which was sweet but refreshing, and a great complement to the meal. Their chips were delicious and well seasoned, and the crinkle cut was a nice touch, adding a bit of texture.
It was a bit of a wait to get our food, but we used the online order and in-store pickup option, which made the process much faster. We sat outside in the food court as the restaurant was packed, even though we were relatively late for lunch. The staff were friendly and energetic and willing to help customers, which was great! We also spied a copy of the Huxtaburger burger book, and they have other merchandise available as well for avid fans.
While we’ve definitely sampled some great burgers in Sydney, Huxtaburger does live up to its title as one of the best burgers around! We were lucky to have tried such an iconic burger, and would definitely recommend it as part of a Melbourne foodie trip.
