Trying Melbourne’s number 1 rated cafe was a massive to-do on our foodie list, so we braved the line and waited for a table in anticipation of a delicious brunch!
I couldn’t go past the Baked Eggs Deux, which had a combination of eggs, chorizo, tomato baked in a metal pot, topped off with a side of fresh bread. It was so delicious, and the runny egg yolks were perfectly seasoned, I savoured every bite! It was great to dip the bread into the rich mix of eggs and chorizo, which wasn’t too spicy and well flavoured. I really enjoyed the dish, and it was a very unique breakfast creation!
Around the table, our friends ordered the confit duck with poached eggs, which was delicious and very flavourful. The omlette and salmon stack was a hit as well, with all the dishes being served with the same bread as mine. Everyone agreed that all the items we ordered were very unique and creative, and of a really high standard compared to regular brunch and cafe food. The coffee was also highly rated, and came with a beautiful heart design, and the iced chocolate was sweet and refreshing.
While there was a 20 minute wait for our table, the interior decor more than made up for it. We were seated in the main walkway which was a little inconvenient at first, but we didn’t mind it too much. The walls were covered with whimsical butterfly images, and the hanging lights added to the quirky vibe. Service was fairly quick and staff were patient with our indecision after pouring over their amazing menu and trying to narrow down our choices.
We would definitely have to admit that while the line to enter left us expecting big things, Hardware Societe perfectly delivered. Their dishes pack a huge flavour punch, and are some of the most beautifully presented and scrumptious brunch dishes that we’ve tried yet!
