For a quick dinner, we dropped by Mary’s on Castlereagh Street in the CBD. Having expanded from their now famous and popular Newtown restaurant to an arguably more convenient location, we were thoroughly excited to try their burgers.

We both ordered the famous Mary’s burger, which consists of beef, cheese, onion, lettuce, tomato and the unique Mary’s sauce. To summarise the experience in one word would be ‘amazing’, and it was honestly much better than what we were expecting. The buns were soft and the patty was juicy and fresh, which complemented the vegetables nicely. Personally, I felt that it was the best burger I have ever had for $10, so if you are looking for a convenient lunch or dinner, make sure to try this.

We were also given some free fries to round out the meal as they were left-over from before which was a nice touch of friendly service. The fries unfortunately tasted somewhat stale however this could also be explained by the fact that they had been sitting there for a while which is why they were free. Regardless, we both appreciated the fact that they weren’t thrown away and wasted.

Mary’s has no seating unlike its Newtown counterpart so you need to be prepared for take-away. In addition, look out for the restaurant (you can often tell by the queue) because the signage outside is unassuming! Once inside however, the service is fast and friendly, which is especially impressive as everything is made fresh.

If you are looking for a delicious, affordable burger on the go, make sure to drop by Mary’s. It’s juicy, it’s tasty and we promise you won’t regret it.
