Having seen countless reviews of their delicate creations, we parked down the road and went in search of Textbook Boulangerie-Pattisserie, a new player in the Alexandria foodie scene!
We ordered two desserts – the Apple Crumble, and the White chocolate, Mango, Kaffir Lime and Coconut dessert. The Apple Crumble was a real treat – the texture of the apple mousse was contrasted with the crumbly biscuit base, with caramelised apple pieces hidden away in the interior for a delicious surprise! The vanilla topping and caramel stick finished off the dessert nicely, and each mouthful was truly magical.
The White Chocolate, Mango, Kaffir Lime and Coconut treat was very intriguing, with lost of contrasting flavours and textures. I found it very rich, and it was decadent but extremely filling, with the baked mango centre the real star of the dessert.
There is ample seating inside, although we came after lunch and decided to order take-away as we were so full. We were served quickly and efficiently, and told that while there were a few items that looked like they were running out, there was plenty more in the back, which was a relief! When at the counter, you have a great view of the pastry chefs hard at work constructing their famous desserts, so be sure to have a watch!
While their creations are somewhat on the pricier side, the Apple Crumble is divine and well worth the premium! A pastry or dessert from Textbook Boulangerie-Patisserie is a must-try if you’re ever in the Alexandria area.
