After a morning of training at uni, we took a short drive over to Roseberry to try the new Gelato Messina HQ and sample some of their classic flavours.
As there were three of us, we opted for a tub, which is excellent value, and gives you around 1 1/2 scoops each – lots more gelato than a single cup! We picked three flavours to share – the poached figs and marsala, the salted caramel and white chocolate, and the coconut and lychee.
My personal favourite is always the salted caramel, but the coconut and lychee was an excellent option! It was great having a mixture of sweeter and rich gelato flavours, and a more sorbet-like option with the coconut and lychee to cut through the sweetness and balance it out.
The Messina HQ is located on a corner block, and there is ample parking on the surrounding streets. As you walk inside, you have a great view of their famous gelato cakes on display, and you can see into their factory space, where they conduct dessert-making classes as well! Service was very quick and the staff were so friendly.
We were even given little cups to share the tub, which was very convenient, and there’s a park just down the road where you can take your sweet treat, or a few crates just outside to sit on.
It’s so great to finally have a Messina near UNSW, and it’s the perfect location for a quick ice-cream break between classes! We’ll definitely be back frequently in the summer, and I’d love to try one of their classes as well.
