One of my friends ordered takeaway from a new Vietnamese place in Ultimo named Bon Bistro, and after loving it herself, brought us along to dine in and give it a try!
I had the glass vermicelli and prawns in a clay pot, as it seemed like a very unique dish, and different from usual, run of the mill Vietnamese fare. The prawns were delicious and there was a great noodle to prawn ratio, and the serve was quite large, definitely enough to share. The sauce especially was so tasty, complementing the noodles really well, and it was so more-ish! Chilli is provided on the side to spice up your dish to your liking, which was great as well.
Around the table, my friends had the Stir Fry Chicken set meal which came with some healthy side dishes, the Vermicelli Noodles Special, and the Vermicelli Noodles Special with spring rolls. The portion sizes of all of these dishes were very generous, and I’d love to come back and try some of the other dishes on offer as well!
Traditional Vietnamese decor with a French influence is the style of the day with the interior, as wooden shutters and wooden tables adorn the restaurant. There was no wait for a table, which was great, so make sure you go early! The service was outstanding and very attentive, and they were happy to help us with our selection of dishes as well.
We were pleasantly surprised with the amazing quality of the dishes on offer, and the large portion sizes as well. I’ll definitely be back to sample some of their other menu items, and really enjoyed my first experience at Bon Bistro!
