After a busy week, we were all looking forward to having dinner and drinks with a view at Kelly’s Bar and Grill in Bondi Junction!
The menu at Kelly’s has some amazing steak and ribs options, but also a bunch of great vegetarian friendly dishes too! We decided to skip the entrees and grab a few main dishes to share, so that we’d have room for dessert afterwards.
We started off with a serve of their huge bread, which was a knotted dinner roll, freshly baked and so soft and sweet! While we didn’t want to get too full before the main courses, we couldn’t resist snacking on it because the bread was so good, and a really great appetiser.
For mains, we had the table size of the Kelly’s House Salad with a side of grilled halloumi on top, and the regular size of the greek salad. We also ordered the large eye fillet, with a side of chips, and rounded out our choices with a serve of the spinach and ricotta ravioli with mushroom cream sauce.
The halloumi was my highlight of the day – it was thinly cut and nicely grilled, so it had great flavour to it, and it tasted amazing alongside the salad. The House Salad was very unique and different from most that we’d tried before, as it was a garden salad with a topping of eggplant, zucchini, capsicum, sundried tomato, and three nut dressing.
We really loved the Greek salad though, as it was so refreshing and light, and the balance of ingredients worked really nicely. It also had a good amount of dressing, and we thought this would’ve been a great alternative to have with a side of halloumi as well!
The eye fillet was a very nicely cooked piece of meat, and we had it with a dianne sauce as well as some of the mushroom and cream sauce. Because we all had different preferences on how we liked our steak cooked, we ordered it medium, and one of the pieces was slightly more well done, while the other was a good medium, so it worked out well in the end! The dianne sauce was amazing, and the chips were really delicious and crispy as well.
Finally, while the presentation of the spinach and ricotta ravioli wasn’t the most glamorous we’ve seen, the taste more than made up for it, as we loved how the pasta lots of spinach rather than an excess of ricotta, and the creamy sauce was tasty as well. It got the tick of approval from our resident vegetarian, and it was a really generous portion as well, so it was great for sharing.
After our dinner, we decided to grab some desserts. I had the New York Baked Cheesecake, which came with a raspberry sauce and scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It was very creamy and delicious, and nicely baked, and I really enjoyed having the raspberry sauce to cut through the richness of the dessert.
Around the table, my friends had the chocolate brownie dessert, the tiramisu, and a scoop of coconut sorbet, and everyone was really happy with their choices! The sorbet was light and a refreshing end to the meal, with a nice hint of coconut, and the tiramisu was really tasty, with lots of cream to balance out the coffee flavour.
Kelly’s Bar and Grill is located in the Level 6 food area, and has an amazing view of Bondi and the water from the open balcony which lines one side of the restaurant. We were seated very quickly, but the restaurant does fill up, so get in early to grab a table.
The staff were so lovely and friendly, and happy to offer suggestions as to what to order. The menu itself had a great range, and there’s definitely something for everyone’s preferences. Bear in mind that all of the dishes are really good for groups, as the servings are generous!
Kelly’s Bar and Grill truly has the trifecta of an amazing location, great food, and excellent service. We really enjoyed the hospitality of the staff at Kelly’s Bar and Grill, and loved how well they catered for a group. Grab a bunch of friends and try out their amazing meals for yourself, and be sure to order the halloumi – it’s a must have!
