As we were craving some Mexican food, Los Vida’s promise of an authentic, vibrant experience was music to our ears. Their website states an underlying philosophy of producing rich flavours with simple ingredients, and we were very excited to sample the range of food on their menu.
The Los Vida menu is quite extensive, and has many options that are suitable for sharing. For our starters, we had the guacamole with totopos, as well as the tuna ceviche. Both of these were quite delicious in very different ways – the guacamole was expertly put together and was full of flavour which complemented the totopos nicely, whilst the tuna ceviche was incredibly fresh. We really enjoyed the light taste of the tuna in combination with the rest of the dish, and we would definitely order this again.
Of course, no Mexican experience would be complete without tacos and we were very excited to sample the Guajillo Lamb tacos and the Los Vida Famous Fish tacos. Simply put, the Fish tacos were amazing! Inside was a barramundi which was beer battered, alongside a lovely combination of sauces, and it just oozed flavour in the mouth and was amazing. Personally, I didn’t enjoy the Lamb taco just as much, but it was still well cooked and put together.
Finally, we ordered the Chicken Breast which was the highlight of my meal and it was rather disappointing that I was already quite full to be able to enjoy this to its full extent. This was real chicken breast that was pan fried and served in a quinoa salad, and is a lovely combination of a healthy, filling meal option that was also delicious. Overall, we were quite impressed with the food and the serving portions were quite decent.
As soon as we arrived at Los Vida, we felt incredibly welcome and that reflects the underlying culture of the restaurant. The service was friendly and also quite fast, and we found our waiters very helpful in helping us decide what to order from the menu. There is plenty of seating both inside and out, and there are tables of many different sizes which is useful to be relevant to many groups.
If you are in Sydney and looking for some authentic Mexican cuisine, or even just a fun place to have a lunch or dinner with friends, make sure to consider Los Vida. The service is friendly, the food is delicious and the location (on top of Westfield Sydney) is very convenient! We’ll definitely be back some time in the future to try some other options available on the menu.
Note: The Khana dined as a guest of Los Vida.
