For a quick but satisfying work lunch, we stopped by Nook Urban Fresh Bar, conveniently located a very short stroll from Wynyard Station!
I decided to have the Grilled Halloumi Stack, which had grilled halloumi, avocado, grilled tomato, rocket, fresh basil pesto, and two perfectly poached eggs, along with some lemon aioli, and quinoa on sourdough. The halloumi was very nicely grilled and not too salty, and the bread was really fresh, which complemented the green and organic elements of the dish. The only thing I didn’t like was the basil pesto, as it was a bit too strong for my personal taste, but otherwise it was an amazing dish, and one that I’d order again!
Across the table, my friend’s Chicken and Fig Sandwich was slightly less of a hit, as the chicken was soggy, and it was a bit underwhelming. However, the figs were nice and fresh, so with better and more crispy chicken, it could be a great dish.
We came during peak lunch hour, and understandably, the cafe was buzzing. However, we quickly found a nice table outdoors, which was perfect for the sunny day. The staff were very efficient in taking orders and the food came out super fast, which is great if you have a tight deadline for your lunch break! They definitely cater to a working crowd with a wide range of sandwiches on their menu, but they have many brunch and lunch dishes as well, so there’s quite a bit of diversity in their range.
I really enjoyed my meal at Nook Fresh Urban Bar, and loved the efficiency of their service. For a proper meal during a work lunch, this is a great and fast option, and they have a very expansive range of dishes for all different kinds of tastes, so give them a try and let us know what you think!
