On a warm night, we caught the famous Manly ferry and travelled to Whitewater Restaurant, a contemporary Australian, beachside restaurant with a stunning view and incredible menu to match!
We started off with two of their signature cocktails – the Chanel No 6, which was sweet and bubbly, and the Whitewater Martini, a zesty lime-based cocktail that was so refreshing!
Our chosen entree was the Cold Seafood Tasting Plate. Each element on the dish was so well done, but the highlights were the seared tuna, and the fresh salmon, which were both so flavoursome and tasty. I also loved the ponzu pepper sauce and aioli which accompanied the dish. It was a light starter that left us with enough room for the mains, which was perfect as we had so much we wanted to try!
We tried three of the mains, which were all equally as stunning. The Crispy Skin Ocean Trout was so beautifully presented, and very nicely seasoned, with a great accompaniment of tangy quinoa. We also couldn’t go past the Surf and Turf, and the prawns were already skinned, which made it so easy for us to enjoy them. The meat itself was so well seasoned and tender, and it was such a delight. Finally, the Pork Belly was such a unique dish, and it had a lovely element of sweetness with the currant compote, and freshness with the lightly grilled scallops.
To finish off the night, we had an amazing dessert tasting plate, which had some of their Chocolate Mousse cake, Orange Polenta cake, and a Lemon Cake Breton. While everything was divine, the Lemon Cake was our highlight – the top was light and fluffy and the base was crumbly and buttery, which made for the perfect combination.
Walking into Whitewater, we were so impressed by the airy interior, with soft lighting and sophisticated decor. Privacy was created for diners by placing tables on different levels. The staff were incredibly attentive and so knowledgeable about the menu, and the food was delivered so quickly as well, which was amazing.
This would be a great venue for a romantic candlelit date, or a more sophisticated group function, and we loved the layout and feel. It’a also right across the road from the beach, which is perfect for an evening walk beforehand!
Our experience at Whitewater Restaurant was nothing short of extraordinary. All of their dishes are stunning and beautifully presented, and we were truly well taken care of by the staff. Make sure you try some of their fresh seafood, and the Cold Seafood Tasting Plate is a must-have entree, but the Lemon Cake is a divine dessert! We’ll definitely be back for more amazing eats with a view at Whitewater.
Note: Khana dined as a guest of Whitewater Restaurant and Platinum Restaurants Group. Thanks so much to Fallon for organising the visit!
