Food Society in Darlinghurst has recently undergone a food and interior transformation so we were invited along to their launch event to check out the new eats and vibes!
Food Society has such a huge range of house infused and niche Vodka’s on pour. We were lucky enough to try cocktails with both a chamomile and vanilla infused vodka – they had just the right balance of sweetness and strength, and were really delicious!
The new head chef, Marcel Osato, has had experience cooking with the Sugar Room and Merivale, and his expertise clearly shows in the new menu! Highlights from included the signature fried cauliflower with parsley, watercress and reduced red wine vinegar – the crispy exterior had a sweet and sour taste to it, and it was so well seasoned that it almost tricked our taste buds into thinking it was a piece of meat, rather than cauliflower!
We also loved the Octopus and Calamari salad with mixed crispy black rice and chard grains, as it had a great texture with the crunch of the grains, and the seafood was grilled to perfection.
Just a short walk away from Town Hall station, Food Society is located in a nicely decked-out basement space in Riley Street. The restaurant/bar space is intimate, with large corner tables for groups, and quaint decor – the owners describe it as ‘grandma’s beach house’. The menu has a great selection, with modern European influences, and the items are great for sharing over a drink or two.
Food Society is a great venue with amazing food and unique drinks to match. Whether it’s for an intimate dinner, or a night out with friends, you’ll find some excellent menu selections for the occasion. They also do a Vodka High Tea on Saturday afternoons, which we’ll definitely have to come back for.Check out their menu and website here, and be sure to try some of their famous Vodka infusions, you won’t be disappointed!
Note: Khana dined as a guest of Food Society and The Buzz Group. Thanks to Amy for organising the event!
