For the third stop on our Rhodes Waterside x Zomato food tour, we visited Tomodachi, a Japanese and Korean fusion restaurant with a great range of sushi, sashimi and sake.
Our first three dishes included kingfish sashimi, assorted sushi and a salmon and avocado salad. All of the pieces we had were so fresh and tasty, and the grilled scallop sushi in particular was cooked with a delicious sauce.
However, the star dishes of the day were the two sashimi platters, which were beautifully presented. There was a selection of tuna, scallop, sea urchin, salmon, kingfish and prawn, with gold leaf and flowers adorning the dish. One of my fellow bloggers even showed me the proper way to shell a prawn, which was good fun!
Their beef rib dish was so tender and well-seasoned, with a great portion size for sharing. We also tried some of their warm sake, which was a level 4 on the bitterness scale, and quite smooth on the palette. It was a great complement to our sushi dishes!
By day, the restaurant has a buzzing sushi train, but there are also a-la-carte menu options for lunch and dinner, which we tried a selection of. There’s plenty of seating and a newly opened function area at the back for larger groups of about 10-15. The manager was so friendly and knowledgeable about the different dishes on offer, and the Japanese and Korean cuisines that influenced the menu as well.
We had a great experience at Tomodachi trying some of their stunningly presented and amazingly delicious dishes. Check out their sushi train for a quick work lunch, or stay longer and dine with a group to try some of their larger plates, and you can’t go past their sashimi – it’s so so good!
Note: Khana dined as a guest of Rhodes Waterside, Zomato and Tomodachi. Thanks to Naomi and Raj for organising the visit!
