For a nice family dinner, we decided to visit Taj Indian Masala, a restaurant in Homebush that serves both North and South Indian cuisine.
We ordered four dishes – a paneer dosa, a paper dosa, a rawa dosa and an Indian thali. My pick was the paneer dosa, which was quite spicy and had paneer in the centre. It was really delicious, but difficult to finish, so may be a good dish to share. The rawa was also really good, as it was very crispy, and had the right balance of spices and vegetables. The paper dosa was the most impressive dish, as it came in a cone shape and was perfectly cooked and crispy. Finally, we also had a side of sizzling tandoori chicken, which was very mild but had a great accompanying mint sauce.
Taj Indian Masala is located just opposite Homebush Station, and has plenty of seating both in front, and in a back section separated by a partition, making it suitable for large groups as well. The food took a long time to prepare, and service was quite slow, but the food was definitely worth the wait! The menu is also very expansive, and there’s something for everyone, with great vegetarian items as well as meat options.
We thoroughly enjoyed our taste of the subcontinent at Taj Indian Masala, which has become our new local Indian restaurant. They do dosas really well, and there’s so much variety in terms of flavours and types, so you have plenty to choose from. Be sure to try the paper dosa – it tastes amazing and photographs even better!
