To celebrate the launch of Zhu Canton, the new signature Cantonese restaurant at The Randwick Club, we were invited to a night of cocktails, dumplings and dragon dancing!
As we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the club’s owner, and handed a lychee champagne cocktail, which was one of the highlights of the night! It was bubbly and sweet, and managed to infuse a taste of the West with East with the addition of the fruity note of fresh lychee. There is also an expansive selection of beers and wines, making this the perfect venue for a cocktail or social drinks event.
A large selection of their dumplings, pancakes and desserts were on offer as the perfect accompaniment to the drinks. Some of our highlights included the prawn dumplings, which were generous in their filling and had thin steamed pastry, and the duck pancakes, which were exquisite and well balanced with the plum sauce, cucumber and shallot. The fried pork buns were really special, which a good ratio of filling to buttery, flaky pastry, and sweet and tangy pork inside.
We loved the feel of the interior, with plenty of places for banquet style dining and larger groups, but also intimate tables for couples to enjoy a romantic dinner out. There was a great bar area for more casual dining accompanied by a drink, and the fitout gives capacity for around 150 diners, which is perfect for a larger function or wedding. The bold red carpet adds to the oriental feel of the place, and there is plenty of parking nearby for guests and diners.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Zhu Canton dining experience, and were truly immersed in the best of Cantonese cuisine over the course of the night. We will definitely be back for some of their main dishes and even the yum cha, and the duck pancakes are incredible, so be sure to grab some of those!
Note: Khana dined as a guest of Zhu Canton and The Society Group.
