The Port

The Port has recently opened its doors for the first time, and we were so excited to visit for the launch! Set beside Darling Harbour and with an impressive cocktail and fine food selection, it was the perfect night of great eats and fun beats!

Food:
On offer was an amazing selection of cheeses, meats, olives and the juiciest grapes we’ve ever tasted! On the regular menu, you can find this type of fare as the Single Origin Cheese Plate, or the Jamon, Artichoke, Olives and Pecorino Plate. We also thoroughly enjoyed the sashimi station, where the chef carved up beautifully thin pieces of salmon and kingfish that melted in the mouth, available as part of the Raw and Cured selection on the menu.

We also got to sample some of the hot canapes, including the polenta chips, which were light and fluffy, and the salt cod croquettes, which were reminiscent of arancini balls and so well seasoned! Finally, we tried some of the amazing cocktails, of which there was a great selection ranging from the Havana’s Mojito with a spike of blood orange juice, and the Harbour Spritz, with lovely fruity hints of lychee! Along with the sparkling, which was light and bubbly, it was the perfect accompaniment to the food on offer.

Ambience:
We thoroughly enjoyed both the view and the vibe of The Port! It has the perfect location right on the waterfront, and plenty of spaces to sit with a larger group, enjoy a quiet cocktail with a colleague, or have a standing function. The bar extends almost the length of the venue, making it easy to grab a drink, and the space feels open and airy, which made it really pleasant! The staff were so friendly and the food and beverage lists are impressive, so we thoroughly enjoyed our night.

Overall:
The Port is such a great addition to the Darling Harbour bar scene, and adds a touch of elegance and sophistication whilst bringing delicious eats and amazing drinks to the table! We’ll definitely be back for both a drink and a meal, or perhaps a function. Our top tip – don’t miss out on their incredible sashimi – it’s a must try!
