To celebrate the launch of this new American Grill at the Intercontinental in Double Bay, we headed to Mr G’s for a night of glamorous cocktails and delicious eats! We started off with the drinks – the first was the That’s my Jam, which was a fruity and sweet cocktail with Larios Gin, crème de cassis, rhubarb bitters, mild willow water and topped off with strawberry jam. The second was the aptly named Obabalicious, a Chocolate Whiskey based cocktail with Amaro Montenegro, rye whiskey, black walnut bitters and topped with a galaxy painted glittery dark chocolate – it was almost too beautiful to drink.
For food, we tried a great selection of canapes and mini bites, which will be available on the full menu. We were treated to Imperial Black Caviar bilini’s, which were rich and salty, Pastrami Spiced Salmon Gravlax and bite sized Cape Byron Eye Fillet chimichurri’s, which gave a great taste of the incredible seasoning on the steaks on the main menu. Our highlight for the night was the Alaskan King Crab Cocktail, which was served on an edible leaf, and we also loved the mini Wagyu Beef Burgers with beer battered cocktail onions, which went perfectly with the tasty truffle fries.
This is a great venue for a catchup and a drink with friends, or a more romantic sit down dinner for two! It truly is a slice of Brooklyn and trendy bar living right here in Sydney – head on over and check it out!
