To celebrate the launch of their new Tomatina menu, we travelled to Yasaka Ramen in Neutral Bay, and sampled some of their authentic Japanese cuisine. We opted for two hearty bowls of ramen – the Egg Ramen, which was a thick tonkotsu style broth, and the Black Garlic Ramen, which was a spicier version. There’s lots of flexibility in this menu – you can opt for a salt, soy or miso base, and choose the amount of chilli you want to add to your dish, which is great. The Black Garlic Ramen is particularly unique, and so tasty!
Spice lovers will adore this dish, which packs a flavour punch, and has a great ratio of noodles to pork and vegetables. The egg ramen with the soy marinated soft boiled egg was also amazing, and the thick soup was rich and creamy, with a great pork taste. The side dishes were a huge standout – the gyoza were so tasty, the edamame were beautifully seasoned with salt and so delicious, and the lotus root chips were crispy and so more-ish!
The delicious new ‘Tomatina’ menu is a must try as well, and is entirely made up of tomato flavoured dishes – such a creative twist! You can try a tomato based ramen or tsukemen (the dipping variety), and there’s lots of variety, so there’s something for every lover of tomatoes and Japanese food. Head up to either of Yasaka Ramen’s locations (the other is in the city!) and give it a try!
Note: Khana dined as a guest of Zomato and Yasaka Ramen.
